Campus Safety Report

March 22-28, 2021

Possession of a Controlled Substance

March 25, 5:50 p.m. (Baxter Hall): Campus Safety received a call from an RA requesting an officer pick up confiscated marijuana after encountering and locating the smell of smoke in the area. An officer responded and retrieved the items. A report was filed.


Suspicious Activity/Persons

March 23, 6:10 p.m. (University Apartments Parking Lot): While on patrol, Willamette Watch encountered an individual urinating in the parking lot. An officer responded and made contact with the individual who appeared to be intoxicated. Salem Police were then contacted to assist in removing the individual from campus property.

March 23, 7:28 p.m. (Collins Science): Campus Safety received a call reporting a group of individuals on bikes without masks on harassing students. An officer responded and searched the area and surrounding areas, but the individuals had already fled the area.

March 25, 2:05 p.m. (State Street): Campus Safety received a call reporting an individual without a mask on in the area. An officer responded and searched the area and surrounding areas, but could not locate the individual.

March 25, 5:10: p.m. (Jackson Plaza): While on patrol, an officer encountered an individual without a mask on passing through campus. The officer made contact with the individual and informed them of the campus mask and visitor policies. The individual then left campus .

March 27, 12:13 p.m. (Waller Hall): While on patrol, Willamette Watch encountered a group of individuals in the area without masks on. An officer responded and found the group headed off campus.

March 27, 2:50 p.m. (Goudy Commons): Campus Safety received a call reporting an individual yelling and acting erratically in the area. Officers responded and encountered an individual who refused to leave campus after being trespassed from the University. Salem Police were then contacted to assist in removing the individual from campus.

March 27, 4:30 p.m. (University Center): Campus Safety received a call reporting a group of individuals without masks on. Officers responded and met with the individuals who then left after being informed of the campus mask policy.

March 28, 11:00 a.m. (Campus): Campus Safety received various calls throughout the afternoon reporting members of the Proud Boys near campus. Officers and extra security responded in monitoring the campus perimeter making sure no one entered campus property.

March 28, 10:20 p.m. (Gatke Hall): Campus Safety received a call from custodial staff after encountering an individual trying to get inside the building. An officer responded and met with the individual outside and informed them that the campus is closed to visitors. The individual apologized for startling the staff in the building then left campus.
