Campus Safety Report March 11 - March 17

Assault

March 11, 5:10 p.m. (Gatke Hall): Campus Safety received multiple calls from students reporting an individual yelling and acting erratically with a Cherriots worker in front of the building. The individual ended up punching the worker and Campus Safety contacted Salem Police to report the incident. The individual was arrested and brought into police custody.

Emergency Medical Aid

March 16, 11:00 p.m. (In a Campus Residence): Campus Safety received a call requesting WEMS assistance for a medical issue. WEMS was contacted and assisted the student.

Possession of a Controlled Substance

March 15, 8:25 p.m. (Kaneko Commons): Campus Safety received a call requesting that found drug paraphernalia be picked up. An officer responded and the items were confiscated.

Suspicious Activity/Persons

March 11, 7:57 a.m. (University Services Building): Campus Safety encountered an individual in the area going through the dumpster. An officer made contact with the individual and they were escorted off campus.

March 11, 9:54 a.m. (Goudy Commons): While on patrol, a Campus Safety officer encountered an individual yelling loudly while they passed through campus. An officer tried to make contact with the individual, but they began to flee. The individual then got in to a vehicle and left campus

March 11, 1:43 p.m. (Eaton Hall): Campus Safety received a call from an employee after they had removed an individual from the building. The individual was seen trying to access the building but could only provide vague details on why they needed to be inside. The individual was asked to leave and compiled.

March 11, 3:19 p.m. (Brown Field): Campus Safety received a call from an employee reporting an individual on the field causing a disruption. Officers located the individual and escorted them off campus.

March 13, 2:55 a.m. (Lee House): Campus Safety received a call from a student reporting they mistakenly let in an unknown individual, claiming to be a student, into the building. Officers responded and located the individual and asked them to leave.

March 14, 1:19 p.m. (Sparks Parking Lot): Campus Safety received a call reporting an individual in the lot looking into cars. An officer responded and searched the area and surrounding area, but could not locate the individual on campus.

March 15, 11:29 p.m. (Hatfield Fountain): While on patrol, a Campus Safety officer encountered an individual passing through campus and loitering in the area. An officer made contact with the individual and they were given directions off campus.

March 15, 8:26 p.m. (Lee House): Campus Safety received a call reporting an individual laying down near the dumpsters. An officer responded and made contact with the individual who then left campus.

March 17, 2:34 a.m. (The Quad): Campus Safety received multiple calls from the emergency phone near the quad. Officers responded to the area and found three individuals in the area. The officer attempted to make contact with the individuals, but they began to flee towards the capital.

March 17, 11:15 a.m. (Mill Street): While on a patrol, a Campus Safety officer encountered an individual talking to themselves as they passed through campus. The officer observed the individual to ensure they continued off campus.

March 17, 2:22 p.m. (Collins Science): Campus Safety received a call from an employee reporting an unknown individual in the building. An officer responded and searched the building and surrounding area and did not see the individual in the building any longer.

March 17, 3:55 p.m. (University Center): Campus Safety received a call from Bistro staff reporting two individuals involved in an altercation resulting in one person was pushed to the floor. The staff member reported that the individuals had separated and had left the Bistro.
