On the evening of April 13th, 2023, Willamette University held its annual Bearcat Excellence Awards ceremony to honor exceptional individuals in the university community. The ceremony was attended by many who came to witness the celebration of the remarkable accomplishments achieved by Willamette's students throughout the year.

President Steven Thorsett, who delivered the opening remarks, praised the honorees for their noteworthy contributions to the

community and for their positive impact on the Willamette community and beyond. "In almost every case," he said, "you have done so without the desire for recognition or reward. Congratulations, and thank you for exemplifying our beloved motto, 'Not Unto Ourselves Alone Are We Born.' May your leadership and service to others continue to inspire and sustain you in all you do."

Among the honorees were members of the Collegian, including Jett Starr, Macy Loy, Aissatou Coyle, Skeet Starr, Monte Remer, and Emma Innes, who received awards for their exceptional work in journalism. Jaclyn Rojo was awarded the Panhellenic Member of the Year Award by Emma Measer, Panhellenic Council President, and Emma McEvoy received the Duncan Robertson '05 Community Builder Award presented by Chaplain Ineda Pearl Adesanya.

The ceremony also saw senior certificates presented to Adele Bunny and Irene Vera, with the Franklin D. Meyer Student Ambassador Award going to MaryKate DeLuca and Amaya Latuszek. Casey Swinkles was among the recipients of the Senior Key Awards.

The Bearcat Excellence Awards was a celebration of the extraordinary contributions made by the honorees and a reminder of the impact that individuals can have when they work toward the greater good.
