Emergency Medical Aide

April 17, 2022, 1:59 a.m. (In a Campus Residence): A Campus Safety officer received a call that an individual was unconscious and unresponsive. WEMS and 911 were called and the individual was transported to Salem Hospital for treatment.


April 17, 2022, 10:21 a.m. (In a Campus Residence): A Campus Safety received stating that an individual was having an unknown medical emergency. The officer responded and contacted 911. Paramedics evaluated the individual and they were transported to the ER by the Salem Fire department.


Suspicious Activity/Persons

April 15, 2022, 4:30 a.m. (Sparks Parking Lot): While on patrol, an officer observed an individual walking westbound on Bellevue. After noticing the patrol car’s headlights, the individual began to chase the vehicle into the Sparks Parking lot and then continued walking on Bellevue. Later, the same individual began to chase the patrol car again. The officer exited the vehicle to speak to the individual, who was not a student, and told the individual that they needed to leave the property. The individual complied and headed west on Bellevue.


April 17, 2022, 1:44 a.m. (Kaneko Commons): An officer encountered an individual camped outside of Kaneko. The individual left the property.


April 17, 2022, 6:48 a.m. (Kaneko Commons): While on patrol, a Campus Safety officer encountered an individual lying underneath a tarp in a bamboo grove to the North of the vehicle gate. The officer advised the individual that they needed to relocate. They were compliant and left the property.


April 19, 2022, 10:58 a.m. (Alpha Chi Omega): An employee called Campus Safety to report that it appeared people had been sleeping in the building but reported that they did not think there was currently anyone inside. An officer searched the building to assure that no one was in the building. It did not appear as though anyone would have been able to enter other than through the card access doors and records showed that no one had entered for over a week.


April 19, 2022, 2:20 p.m. (Waller Hall): An officer observed an individual pushing a shopping cart east toward Waller Hall. Campus Safety also received a call about the same individual trying to speak to students that were walking by. The officer followed the individual until they left the property.


April 19, 2022, 2:25 p.m. (Sparks Parking Lot): Campus Safety received a call from an employee reporting that an individual was talking to themself in front of the Sparks Center building and that they appeared to be holding a 40 oz. beer bottle. An officer confirmed the information and tried to direct the individual off campus as they appeared to be intoxicated and stated that they were looking for the hospital. The individual left the property heading south toward Bellevue.


April 19, 2022, 6:39 p.m. (Hallie Ford Museum of Art): An officer responded to the Museum to remove an individual from the property. The individual left the property without incident.


April 19, 2022, 9:41 p.m. (Blue Parking Lot): A vehicle was observed sitting in the Blue Lot for hours as various people were coming and going from the vehicle in question. An officer was dispatched, but when the officer tried to approach, the person in the vehicle drove away.


April 20, 2022, 8:25 a.m. (Sparks Field): While on patrol, an officer made contact with an individual under the skybridge next to the Sparks Field. The individual was cooperative in collecting their belongings, and left the property.


April 21, 2022, 7:50 a.m. (Matthews Parking Lot): A officer encountered an individual at the Matthews parking lot. The individual was cooperative as the officer escorted them off campus.


April 21, 2022, 2:15 p.m. (Collins Science): An employee called Campus Safety to report an unknown individual who walked into their office and exhibited some concerning behavior. Officers responded and escorted them out of the building. The individual walked to the north and crossed State Street without incident.


April 21, 2022, 9:55 p.m. (Montag Center): A student walking near Montag reported being harassed by a suspicious individual on a skateboard. The individual had reportedly tried to interact with the student before the student quickly left the area. Officers responded but were unable to locate the individual.


Theft

April 19, 2022, 10:23 a.m. (Matthews Parking Lot): A student came into the Campus Safety office to report that their car had been broken into and the passenger side car window had been smashed. The student said it occurred sometime between the night prior and early that morning. The stolen items included the student’s wallet and two blankets.


Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle

April 18, 2022, 6:33 a.m. (Matthews Parking Lot): An individual who was visiting campus called Campus Safety to report that their vehicle was stolen from the Matthews parking lot sometime during the night prior or early that morning. The alarm harness from their vehicle had been ripped out and left where the vehicle had been parked. The individual was advised to contact the Salem Police Department and their insurance company.
