Campus Safety report: Sept. 24 - 30

Burglary

September 29, 8:16 a.m. (Oak St. Properties): An officer discovered that a window was broken on one of the buildings and could hear screaming inside the building. Salem Police was called. The individual eventually fled on foot with officers following until they lost visual contact.

Suspicious Activity/Persons

September 24, 9:53 a.m. (Oak St. Properties): Officers found an individual attempting to live on campus property. Officers escorted the individual off campus

September 25, 9:00 a.m. (Oak St. Properties): An officer discovered that a window had been broken on one of the storage units, maintenance informed to board up the window

September 25, 9:55 p.m. (Smullin Hall ): Officers received a report that there was an individual wandering around the area of Smullin Hall and the Theatre who may be in need of medical assistance. Officers located the individual in the Matthews parking lot and were able to get him medical transport to Salem Hospital.

September 26, 9:00 p.m. (University Services Building): Officers observed an individual rummaging through the Golf Carts behind the building. The individual biked away when seeing the officers

September 27, 12:08 p.m. (Eaton Hall): A student called reporting an individual yelling on the north side of the building. Officers responded and the individual was found near the Art Building crossing the street to the Capitol grounds.

September 27, 9:15 p.m. (Sparks Lot): An unauthorized individual reported to have been in the Hatfield Library. Officers responded and located the individual who started running when officers tried to make contact. Officers followed the individual until they were off-campus.

September 27, 2:30 p.m. (Hatfield Library): A student called reporting an individual asking for help to find his car. An officer responded and found the individual walking towards the downtown area. The individual was later found again on campus urinating on the Service Center building, claiming to still be looking for their car. Officers went with the individual to Matthews lot to look for the vehicle but could not find it. The individual was told to leave campus and the officers continued to check the rest of campus for the car. Officers were unable to find a car matching the description. The individual returned again at 5 p.m. and was informed by the officers that the car is not on campus property.

September 28, 10:16 a.m. (University Apartments): Officers received a call that there was an individual digging through the dumpster. Officers responded to escort the individual off campus.

September 29, 11:01 a.m. (Baxter Hall): A student called reporting a suspicious individual near Baxter. Officers responded and the individual was located near Ford by the bike rack. The individual they ran off towards Gatke and when they saw the officers approaching and was last seen across the street, off campus..


September 29, 11:42 a.m. (Visitors Parking Lot): Campus Safety received a report an “anti-vax protest” table being set up. Officers responded and reported the individual was not on the public sidewalk so they were within their rights to stay.

Medical Assistance

September 24, 4:50 p.m. (Rogers Music Center): An officer responded to a call from WEMS to assist a student with a medical escort.

September 26, 12:17 a.m. (In a Campus Residence): Officers received a report of a student in need of medical assistance. Campus Safety responded with WEMS to provide assistance.
