Burglary

January 18, 8:46 a.m. (Oak Street Property): An officer found a portion of the fence cut and a broken window on the south side of one of the buildings. Salem Police was contacted to assist in clearing the building. SPD found no one inside the building.

Suspicious Activity/Persons

January 14, 1:30 a.m. (Eaton Hall): Campus Safety received a call about an individual camped at the north side entrance of the building. When the officer arrived on the scene, the individual had already left but had left behind some items. The officer did a patrol of the area to confirm the individual was no longer on campus.

January 14, 06:15 a.m. (Skybridge): Campus Safety received multiple calls about an individual on the bridge, who was not a student walking towards Kaneko. An officer responded and escorted the individual off campus.

January 14, 11:35 a.m. (University Services Building): An officer encountered an individual in the dumpster at the south side of this building. The individual left campus after being asked to leave.

January 14, 11:59 a.m. (Green Parking Lot): An officer encountered an individual sleeping in their car in this lot. They did not have a permit, so the officer asked the individual to leave and they complied.

January 14, 2:07 p.m. (University Services Building): Campus Safety was informed of an individual in the dumpster behind this building. An officer was dispatched and the individual left campus when asked.

January 16, 10:00 a.m. (Terra House): An officer encountered an individual on campus who was not a student. Salem Police was contacted after the individual exhibited strange behavior. SPD arrived and the individual left campus after speaking with the police.

January 16, 12:45 p.m. (Kaneko Commons): An officer made contact with an individual setting out blankets and trash near this residence. They were asked to leave the campus and they complied.

January 17, 6:45 a.m. (University Center): An officer encountered an individual who was reading the labels on trash in the trash can. The individual provided ID and then left the area.

January 18, 11:09 a.m. (Office of International Education): Campus Safety received a call about an individual who was asking directions to the Law School. The individual would not leave the building despite being given directions. An officer contacted the individual and was escorted out of the building.

January 19, 4:50 p.m. (Lee House): Campus Safety received a call about an individual trying to enter a residence. An officer was dispatched but did not locate the individual in the area.

Theft

January 16, 1:58 p.m. (University Apartments Parking Lot): Campus Safety was informed of a car that had had its catalytic converter and O2 sensor wires stolen by the student who owned the vehicle. The car had been left on campus over the break so it is unclear when the parts were stolen.

January 20, 1:12 p.m. (Atkinson GSM): Campus Safety was informed by the owner of a car that its catalytic converter was stolen. The car had been left on campus over the break so it is unclear when the part was stolen.

Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle

January 17, 1:19 p.m. (University Apartments Parking Lot): Campus Safety was informed by a student that their car had been stolen. The car had been left on campus over the break so it is unclear when it was stolen.

Welfare Check

January 17, 12:40 a.m. (In a Campus Residence): Campus Safety was asked to check on the welfare of a student. The student was found sleeping in their room and was fine.

January 19, 2:48 p.m. (In a Campus Residence): Campus Safety was requested to do a welfare check on a student at the request of their parents. The Area Coordinator was contacted to conduct the welfare check. The student was responsive and encouraged to contact their parents.
