Campus Safety Weekly Report

Assault

March 8, 7:03 p.m. (Goudy Commons): A student reported being assaulted while walking on the sidewalk outside of Goudy. She was walking along when three highschool aged males ran by her and one of them hit her in the face with a cupcake, causing a cut on her nose and causing her to be disoriented. The subjects continued running away toward Winter Street.  An officer responded and met with the student, and they were encouraged to make a report with the Salem Police Department. 

Emergency Medical Aid

March 9, 11:35 a.m. (Smith Fine Arts): Campus Safety received a call reporting an individual had fallen and had injured their wrist. An officer responded and met with the individual. They were transported to the emergency room.

Fire Alarm

March 10, 8:48 p.m. (Lee House): Campus Safety received a call reporting a fire alarm and the smell of smoke in the building. Officers and the Salem Fire Department responded and the building occupants evacuated. The source of the fire was found to be a faulty washing machine. A work order was submitted to have it repaired. 

Suspicious Activity/Persons

March 6, 12:33 p.m. (Jackson Plaza): Campus Safety received a call reporting a suspicious individual soliciting. An officer responded and met with the individual who then left campus. 

March 9, 6:48 p.m. (Kaneko Commons): Campus Safety received a call reporting two suspicious individuals jumping the fence into the Kaneko parking lot. An officer responded and found two individuals on their way off-campus.

March 9, 11:10 p.m. (Hatfield Library): Campus Safety received a call reporting a suspicious individual. Officers recognized the individual from a prior call and they were removed from campus.

March 12, 10:08 p.m. (Micah Building): Campus Safety received a call reporting a suspicious individual at the front door requesting access to search the building for a phone they were tracking and they believed an individual was in the building. Officers responded but no one was found in the building.
